What Is Aneurysm Surgery?
Aneurysm surgery addresses abnormal blood vessel widenings, or aneurysms, which can occur anywhere in the body and pose significant health risks. Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), one of the most common types outside the brain, can weaken the artery walls over time, leading to potential rupture and life-threatening bleeding. Various risk factors, such as high blood pressure, smoking, and genetic predispositions, can increase the likelihood of aneurysm formation. The skilled team at the Artery and Vein Institute provides specialized care for abdominal aortic aneurysm surgery and peripheral aneurysm surgery, focusing on minimizing these risks and enhancing overall health through effective treatments. If you have been diagnosed or have concerns about any aneurysm in the neck, arms, legs, chest, or abdomen, contact us at our East Norriton, PA practice.
How Is Aneurysm Surgery Performed?
The technique used for aneurysm surgery depends on the location of the aneurysm, its size, and other individual health factors. The Artery and Vein Institute offers minimally invasive options, like endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR), often recommended for patients with risk factors, such as high blood pressure and blood clot concerns. This approach involves placing an endovascular graft to strengthen the artery wall, reducing the chance of rupture without requiring large surgical incisions. Most patients can return home within a couple of days, as this technique typically results in a quicker recovery and fewer complications. Open reconstruction is also available for complex aneurysms, giving patients a comprehensive choice based on their specific needs.
What Are the Benefits of Aneurysm Surgery?
Addressing aneurysms before they rupture provides numerous benefits for overall health, including:
- Lower risk of severe bleeding and blood clot formation
- Reduced recovery time with minimally invasive techniques
- Treatment options customized to each patient's health and aneurysm location
- Minimal scarring and quicker healing through EVAR
- Better management of high blood pressure to prevent future complications
With treatment focused on each individual's risk factors and overall health, aneurysm surgery at the Artery and Vein Institute keeps patients well-supported and informed. Seeking early treatment can make a substantial difference, especially for those with additional health concerns.
Artery and Vein Institute Reviews
Very pleased with this office, Dr Grisafi and staff. My surgery went smoothly and Staff and Dr were available for any question or concerns. Very kind and accommodating.
Recently went to this office for a swollen leg I had after bashing it into a toilet. Leg was punctured and filled with blood tainted pus. Dr. Grisafi had to hand squeeze the pus and blood out and then fill with packing material and wrap leg in gauze and an ace bandage until next visit. Started with over 16 feet of packing material being put in. By the last visit, it was down to 6 inches. Dr. Grisafi was very caring and helpful. He even gave m his home phone number to call if I had any problems over a weekend. Highly recommended!
Foot problem - After seeing 3 other Dr. with no good outcome I found Dr grisafi thank god had me back to normal in 4 weeks cannot say enough about the staff and the dr thank you again doc
